“Tribe Carnival Experience”

Tribe Carnival Mas Band has become both a national and international name brand in the world of Carnival with demand that far exceeds its supply and a “cult-like” loyalty from its masqueraders.

The Trinidad and Tobago Carnival is one of the largest and most well known festivals in the Americas along with Rio Carnival in Brazil and the Mardi Gras in New Orleans. It has inspired the structure of several carnivals throughout the Caribbean region and is the most replicated Carnival in the world.

Tribe, of course, is the archetypal emotional brand. It’s not just intimate with its masqueraders; it is loved. “It’s like having a good friend, that’s what’s interesting about Tribe. Somewhere they have created this really humanistic, beyond-business relationship with masqueraders and created a cult-like relationship with their brand. It’s a big tribe, everyone is one of them. You’re part of the brand.”

 

Dean Ackin declared that this country’s Carnival celebration, dubbed the greatest show on earth, was not just about innovation, but reinvention. “Mas is also evolving and going through changes. Tribe feels proud to be part of that evolution of mas.

Mr. Ackin said that Tribe, which has around 5,000 masqueraders each year, usually has a waiting list 2,000 people long. Several celebrities have also marched with Tribe, including the actor Idris Elba an the billionaire Richard Branson.
